M. Khair ElZarrad, the Deputy Director of the Office of Medical Policy in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the Food and Drug Administration, will be the featured speaker in the July installment of the National Health Virtual Speaker Series, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), in Laurel, Maryland.

The virtual event will be held Tuesday, July 14, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. EST. Click here to register.

This session is the second in a series of national virtual discussions designed to bring together partners in the community — federal government, Department of Defense, academia and industry — to explore the role of artificial intelligence in real-world health care settings.

ElZarrad will brief the FDA’s work in operationalizing AI in health, and APL Senior National Security Analyst Erin Hahn will lead a discussion on current events and their impact on operationalizing AI in health.

APL’s 2020 National Health Virtual Speaker Series will include a third event in August and a two-day symposium in September, continuing the Laboratory’s exploration of Operationalizing AI in Health. Additional information on topics and registration for those events will be released soon.
