Geesaman Appointed Precision Strike Mission Area Executive at Johns Hopkins APL

Brian Geesaman has been named mission area executive for Precision Strike at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland.

In this role, Geesaman leads a diverse portfolio of programs and initiatives focused on integrated strike warfare capabilities, kinetic and non-kinetic weapon systems, and end-to-end capability development supporting the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and other Department of War agencies. He previously served as deputy mission area executive for Precision Strike.

Geesaman joined APL as an electronic attack systems engineer and has since led and supported a range of technically complex national security programs, as well as numerous highly successful collaborations with industry and the research community. As a program area manager, he led the development and implementation of an electromagnetic spectrum dominance strategy. He also led early counter-command, control, communications, computing, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C-C5ISR) initiatives and engagements with the Navy and the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering.

“Brian’s significant technical accomplishments, strategic insight, and collaborative leadership style position him well to guide our teams working on many of the nation’s most complex national security challenges,” said APL Director Dave Van Wie. “His experience and vision will be instrumental as the Laboratory continues to deliver critical capabilities for the joint force.”

Geesaman holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He has completed senior‑level executive education at the Harvard Kennedy School and George Washington University and is a graduate of the Leadership Premier program at Loyola University of Maryland.
