Dr. Danzig is a member of the Defense Policy Board and the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, a trustee of The RAND Corporation and of Reed College, a director of the Center for a New American Security, and a director of Saffron Hill Ventures (a European investment firm) and chair of the Advisory Board for Idaho National Laboratory’s Innovation Center. Previously, he served as Under Secretary of the Navy and then Secretary of the Navy during the Clinton Administration.

Dr. Stockton is the managing director of Sonecon, LLC. He serves on the Homeland Security Advisory Council, the Board of Trustees of Analytic Services, Inc., the Strategic Advisory Council of the Idaho National Laboratory, and other boards. Previously, Dr. Stockton served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs from June 2009 until January 2013, and was the Executive Director of the Council of Governors.

“We are honored to welcome Richard and Paul to our Senior Fellows program and the Johns Hopkins community,” said APL Director Ralph Semmel. “Their experiences leading the nation through challenging times and knowledge of emerging technical challenges will further the Lab’s impact for the nation.”

Dr. Danzig is the author of numerous reports and several books, including most recently, “Surviving on a Diet of Poisoned Fruit: Reducing the National Security Risk of America’s Cyber Dependencies.”

Dr. Stockton is the author of the forthcoming report, “Superstorm Sandy: Implications for Designing a Post-Cyberattack Power Restoration System.” As Co-Chair of the Department of Defense’s Independent Review of the Washington Navy Yard Shooting, he helped write “Security from Within,” which proposed fundamental changes (now being implemented) in the Department’s internal security policies and programs.

The Senior Fellows program seeks to bring together technology and high-level decision makers in ways that better address national priorities. Drs. Danzig and Stockton will join Senior Fellows James Stavridis, former supreme allied commander of NATO; Jim Miller, former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy; Jim Gosler, one of the nation’s foremost experts in cybersecurity; and Phil DePoy, former CEO of the Center for Naval Analysis.
