Seth Billings

Dr. Seth Billings is a senior staff scientist whose research centers on computer vision and artificial intelligence (AI), primarily involving applications in computer-assisted diagnostics and interventional medicine, field robotics, and enabling technologies for disabled individuals. He is the principal investigator on a multiyear National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded study to develop an autonomous navigation capability to enable blind users of prosthetic vision systems to independently navigate under limited prosthetic vision. His recent work has also included developing ultrasound-based image analysis capabilities for diagnosis of rare disease and development of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) systems for autonomous vehicles. Dr. Billings serves as a research adviser to students in the Johns Hopkins Doctor of Engineering and Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals programs. His areas of expertise include prosthetic vision, AI, machine learning, and computer vision.
