Joel Sarapas

Dr. Joel Sarapas is a senior chemist, section supervisor, and project manager in the Chemical Sciences Group within APL’s Research and Exploratory Development Department. His research focuses on applying polymer chemistry to a variety of critical challenges for the Department of War, including ice-modulating materials, atmospheric water harvesting, stimuli-responsive materials and systems, battery separators, and materials for the prevention of marine biofouling. He has deep expertise in polymer synthesis and takes inspiration from biology for many of his technical synthetic approaches.
