BioDr. David W. Blodgett is a senior technologist in the Asymmetric Operations Sector at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Prior to this role, he served as the chief scientist for the Research and Exploratory Development Department, where he provided technical leadership across multidisciplinary programs and groups to identify and promote technology development. His research focuses on the development of next-generation coherent optical sensors to provide enhanced performance in highly scattering and turbulent environments. He has led multiple programs focused on noninvasive brain–computer interfaces (BCIs), neuroimaging, and health monitoring applications. In addition, he is the technical lead for programs that explore the use of coherent optical sensing for enhanced performance in space, airborne, and underwater environments.
