Bio
BioDr. Bobby Grayson is a planetary scientist researching how the airless icy moons of the outer solar system (e.g., Europa, Enceladus) are altered by exposure to space plasmas. Using a combination of computational modeling and remote spectroscopy, he works to diagnose the mechanisms of alteration in the Saturn and Jupiter systems and beyond. Importantly, these processes can contribute to both false positives and false negatives (i.e., via destruction of biosignatures) in the search for habitable or inhabited ocean worlds. Dr. Grayson’s work informs sampling strategies that can be used by future missions for robust life detection and habitability assessment.
