BioGeorge W. “Bill” Harvey Jr. is the operations executive for the Air and Missile Defense Sector (AMDS) of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). A member of the AMDS Executive Leadership Team, he leads the sector’s operations organization, overseeing business and financial management, information technology, facilities and space planning, security, logistics, and operational capabilities for critical national security missions supported by more than 1,550 staff. Mr. Harvey partners with the head of AMDS and fellow executive leaders to shape sector strategy, establish priorities, and oversee execution. He provides leadership for the infrastructure that enables mission success, leading strategy development, financial stewardship, workforce planning, investment decisions, and modernization to strengthen mission readiness. He is a member of APL’s Principal Professional Staff and has served in executive and senior leadership roles for more than two decades. He serves on the Operations Forum, the Enterprise Information Technology Committee, and the Long-Range Campus Planning Team. Before joining APL, Mr. Harvey worked for Northrop Grumman supporting Department of War aerospace programs. He has an MBA in management from Loyola College, Maryland, and a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in finance from Frostburg State University.
