BioAngela Thompson is the mission area executive for National Security Analysis at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). In this role, Ms. Thompson leads teams to combine innovative technical knowledge and operational analysis to create emerging capability solutions to national security challenges.
Previously, Ms. Thompson served as deputy mission area executive for Cyber Operations and was responsible for shaping APL’s vision and execution strategy to create disruptive capabilities to ensure U.S. advantage and resilience in the evolving cyber threat space. Ms. Thompson also served as the military cyber operations program area manager within the Cyber Operations Mission Area, leading the team that develops non-kinetic effects for APL’s military sponsors. She has a long track record of successful program and technical leadership, including leading teams that developed cyber capabilities, information operations concepts and communications systems to keep our nation safe.
Before joining APL in 2007, Ms. Thompson conceptualized and architected Operations Centers to support Anti-Terrorism Force Protection. Ms. Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
