As a division of The Johns Hopkins University (JHU), education is an important part of APL’s mission. The Laboratory supports education at all levels to encourage current and future engineers and scientists.

JHU Engineering for Professionals

The APL Education Center offers on-site graduate courses through JHU’s Whiting School of Engineering. The Engineering for Professionals program is designed to accommodate full-time working professionals.

Through engineering and science summer internships, college students work directly with APL scientists and engineers, conducting research and developing leadership skills.

High School Student Mentoring

APL staff members regularly mentor students from local public and private high schools. Participating students work on a specific project under the supervision of an APL mentor, usually for a full school year.
