Joining a Channel

Desktop Client – How to join a Zoom channel using a desktop client

  1. Sign into the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab. 
  3. In the left sidebar, next to Team Chat, click the drop-down arrow icon.
  4. Click Join a Channel.
  5. In the pop-up window, use the search bar to find a channel.
  6. Hover your cursor over the channel name and click Join 
    • You will be directed to that channel.

Mobile Client – How to join a Zoom channel using a mobile client

  1. Sign into the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Contacts tab.
  3. In the top-right corner, tap the plus icon.
  4. Tap Join a Channel.
  5. Use the search bar to find a channel.
  6. Tap the name of the channel, then tap Join Channel.

Changing Notification Settings

How to change notification settings for a specific channel or chat

  1. Sign into the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab. 
  3. Hover cursor over the group chat or channel and click the ellipsis icon.
  4. Select Notifications.   
  5. Select your Message Preferences from this menu.

How to change notification settings for all channels and chats

  1. Sign into the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click Settings. 
  3. Select Team Chat tab from the left menu.

Resetting a Password

Zoom – Password Reset (If there is APL email access)

  1. Browse to https://jhuapl.zoomgov.com/forgot_password.
  2. Type in your APL email address
  3. Select “I’m not a robot” challenge and complete.
    • Password will be sent to APL email address.
