Bio
BioDr. Jennifer M. Boothby is a postdoctoral chemist whose expertise lies in formulating responsive polymers and bioactive polymers. She has worked on projects ranging from optically dynamic hydrogels and liquid- crystal polymers for soft robots to metal corrosion optimization and ceramics 3D printing. In addition to her materials formulation experience, she has conducted research in the following areas: synthetic biology, material biocompatibility, tissue engineering, shape-memory orthopedic devices, vaccine formulation, and mechanical characterization. She recently taught the course Biomimetics in Biomedical Engineering through the Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals program. Additional areas of expertise include additive manufacturing, material characterization, polymer science and biomaterials, and stimulus-responsive materials.
