Crystal Lemley

Crystal D. Lemley became the operations executive for the Research and Exploratory Development Department (REDD) at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in 2016. As the operations executive, she provides leadership and management of the business and administrative functions for a department of more than 700 staff members. In addition, she serves as a senior advisor to the head of REDD in the management of department resources and provides oversight for all administrative operations. Ms. Lemley is the chair of APL’s Benefits Committee and Appeals Committee, and she co-leads the Experience Team. She is also the department representative on the Operations Forum and the Long Range Site Development Planning Team. Ms. Lemley has provided primary oversight for large-scale design and construction projects, most notably for Building 201, the 263,000-square-foot advanced research facility that serves as the new home of REDD. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Lemley served as the supervisor of REDD’s Business and Financial Planning Group. In that role, she was responsible for all aspects of financial planning, management, and reporting. Ms. Lemley earned a B.F.A. from Savannah College of Art & Design and an M.B.A. from Frostburg State University.
