Twelve Angry Men
Adapted by Patrick Barlow
Directed by Scott Stanchfield
The 39 Steps was Scott Stanchfield's fourth time directing a Drama Club show, and it was even more side-splitting than usual. A hilarious comedy combining an Alfred Hitchcock thriller with an over-the-top parody, The 39 Steps won over Drama Club audiences with the total devotion to absurdity of its cast and crew. Even the description from the back of the play can inspire laughs:
"Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps! A man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. She is soon murdered and a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! The 39 Steps is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters, an on-stage plance crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old fashioned romance."
