Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory to Salute Top Inventions, Inventors at April 17 Event

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Md., will honor 190 inventors and announce its top inventions for 2006 at its eighth annual Invention of the Year ceremony on Tuesday, April 17, from 5-7 p.m. in APL's Kossiakoff Center.

The Lab's inventors registered 125 invention disclosures in 2006 with APL's Office of Technology Transfer in subject areas ranging from software and space communications to biomedical devices and microelectronics. From this group, an independent, outside review panel selected three top inventions.

APL Technology Transfer Director Kristin Gray will present plaques and cash awards to the winning invention teams. This year's ceremony will also include presentations of the Lab's first Master Inventor awards, honoring staff members (past and present) who hold at least 10 U.S. patents for their APL work.
