Transit Satellite Design Failure

Developed by APL, Transit was the world’s first satellite-based global navigation system. Considered one of APL’s defining innovations, it consisted of a constellation of thirty-six satellites that provided worldwide navigation for the Navy’s ballistic missile submarine force.
