APL heating and cooling degree day seasonal summaries
are shown in the following two tables. Heating degree days (HDDs) are used as an indication of fuel consumption, especially
for space heating. Cooling degree days (CDDs) are used as an index of the energy requirements for air conditioning
or refrigeration. Both units are based in daily average temperature difference from 65°F. APL HDDs and CDDs
are also compared with Laurel, MD "normal" values, which are computed for the period from 1971-2000.
