Patents, Pizza, and Technology Transfer

APL’s Offices of Technology Transfer and Patent Counsel hosted a “Patents & Pizza” Luncheon in the Kossiakoff Education and Conference Center. Guest speaker, M. Steele, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, presented staff members with awards for innovation in technology development.

Welcomed by APL Director R. Roca, Steele spoke about the importance of technology and innovation to the state’s economic development.

APL honors its staff inventors who have been granted patents for their work by awarding plaques for achievement at a continuing lunch-time series for APL inventors and staff members. Steele presented awards to staff members who shared 14 patent awards during the last 4 months. The Office of Patent Counsel and Technology Transfer host informational sessions to inform Laboratory inventors, project staff and other interested Laboratory professionals about issues relating to APL technology transfer.

The Lt. Governor is pictured with APL staffers R. Wallis (L) and S. Chen (R) who were granted a patent for a “High-Efficiency Solid State Power Amplifier.”
