U.S. Surgeon General Carmona Visits APL

ADM Carmona spoke about his role in Government and how his background as both a Hispanic and career military man has influenced his policy-making decisions. An awareness and accommodation of the social factors in health care are as important as the science and technology available today to heal people. He emphasized culture and ethnicity should not be neglected in establishing policy and treating disease.

ADM Carmona said: “ I was raised to believe in the power of our community, in the need to help others, and to give back.” His life is a great role model for everyone. See more on the Surgeon General http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/

ADM Carmona talked with members of APL’s Hispanic Awareness Committee: (l to r) J. Fernandez, P. Rodriquez, and J. Armendariz.
