Maria Cimilluca, former senior director of Facilities Management at Cornell University, has joined the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as head of the Plant Engineering Services Department.

Cimilluca brings to APL more than 20 years of experience managing complex campus environments, including academic, research and medical facilities. At Cornell she led a team that included more than 750 people and had a budget of more than $78 million.

Prior to joining Cornell in 2012, Cimilluca held several senior facilities management positions at Franklin & Marshall College and at East Tennessee State University. She has also worked in facilities assignments at Syracuse University and Virginia Tech.

“We are pleased to add Maria to our executive leadership team,” said Ruth Nimmo, assistant director of operations at APL. “She brings a wide range of leadership and management experience in facilities planning, maintenance and operations. We look forward to the many contributions she will make here at APL.”

Cimilluca earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Syracuse and a master’s degree in engineering technology from East Tennessee State.
