Larry Kohlenstein Named Chief Financial Officer at Johns Hopkins APL

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md., has appointed Larry C. Kohlenstein chief financial officer for the Laboratory. He will continue to head APL’s Business Services Department.

As CFO, Kohlenstein will manage the Lab’s financial operations, overseeing financial planning and budgeting. He will direct contracting relationships with government and non-government sponsors and insure APL’s compliance with government contracting regulations. He will also manage financial relations with the Hopkins’ central administration.

Kohlenstein said, “The key to success in this position is the cadre of skilled and dedicated financial managers and analysts in my department and throughout the Laboratory.”

Kohlenstein earned a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and joined the Applied Physics Laboratory in 1961. He lives in Columbia, Md., with his wife, Jean.
