Detection and Targeting Program Area

The challenge for the Detection and Targeting Program Area is integrating global intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) to provide timely, relevant detection, location, identification, and targeting information to decision makers throughout the national decision chain. Meeting that challenge encompasses a wide range of sensors — from space, to airborne, to handheld — and being able to combine the multiple types of data from those sensors to produce an information product that is truly useful to a human analyst or decision maker. APL has a number of programs that are developing techniques to collect, fuse, and display multiple types of data rapidly and with a high degree of precision.
