About the Club

The Asian American Heritage Club (AAHC) had a banner first year.

Brainstorming while they worked out in the gym, two staff members decided a new club was needed to bring together Asian American employees and share their diverse cultures with the rest of their colleagues. After an organizing meeting, AAHC grew quickly. To promote family ties and inclusiveness, the club is open to all APL staff and family members as well as retirees.

The two organizers, President Lien Duong and VP Lan Afram, were honored for their efforts by The Johns Hopkins University at the annual Diversity Recognition Awards ceremony in 2007.

The club created and maintains an intranet site, including a monthly electronic newsletter. This year, members planned and hosted a series of “Cultural Exchanges,” each one featuring a different Asian country through lectures and photos presented by club members.
