Human Resources and Services Department

The Human Resources and Services Department (HRSD) promotes APL as an employer of choice by identifying emerging needs, providing guidance, and delivering responsive cost-effective solutions and services that create a diverse, productive, safe, and secure workplace.

HRSD coordinates recruiting, hiring, compensation, and staff benefits for APL’s staff. The department supplies career-development resources and develops and conducts training for all APL staff, providing technical administrative and management training courses. The department also addresses workforce issues related to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, discipline, diversity, and timekeeping.

HRSD ensures the safety and security of Laboratory employees and facilities through various services and programs. These include environmental programs, occupational health and safety services, loss prevention, emergency response, the security force, visitor control, document control, and industrial/Department of Defense and information security programs. The department further supports the Laboratory by providing conferencing, food, and recreational services.
