Pax River Field Office

APL has a Patuxent River Field Liaison Office in Lexington Park, Maryland. This office facilitates the interaction of APL and its sponsors within the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and the Naval Aviation Program Executive Officers [PEO(A), PEO(W), and PEO(T)].

NAVAIR and the PEOs constitute a major sponsor base for APL as a University-affiliated Research Center. Through the Field Liaison Office, APL will be able to provide support to these sponsors. Additionally, the office acts as a liaison linking the resources of Johns Hopkins University with local educational activities and needs of government personnel and other technical professionals in southern Maryland.

NAS Patuxent River is located about 90 miles from APL's Howard County facility. The field office is in the Exploration V building of the Exploration Park, off Rte 235, approximately 1/2 mile north of the base. Optional routes from APL Howard County facility to the field office include:

• Route 32E to Route 3 to US 301S to Route 4 through Solomons across the Patuxent River bridge to Route 235. Turn left on Route 235, go south, and turn right on Exploration Drive. Continue left through the complex. Exploration V is located on the right side of the complex.

• Same as above to US 301S to Waldorf and Route 4. South to intersection with Route 235. Follow Route 235 south to Exploration Drive and turn right. Continue left through the complex. Exploration V is located on the right side of the complex .

• I-95S to Beltway to Route 5 (Branch Avenue) South through Waldorf to intersection with Route 235. Follow Route 235 south to Exploration Drive and turn right. Continue left through the complex. Exploration V is located on the right side of the complex.

The facility includes a conference room and offices to accommodate visiting personnel and enable them to work effectively and connect with their home offices while in the southern Maryland area. A larger conference facility is also available and can be scheduled as needed. A planned telecommunications capability will make the Liaison office the operational equivalent of an extension within the Howard County facility.
