STEMpowerment Workshop Materials

Light BulbAPL held its first-ever Parent STEMpowerment Workshop on December 9, 2012, with the goal of helping parents of middle school students support their children in their STEM activities and in pursuing a STEM career. Parents were given the opportunity to speak with educators, STEM professionals, college students, and industry experts at the workshop. Representatives from the Maryland State Department of Education, The Johns Hopkins University, Northrop Grumman, Maryland MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement), and the University of Maryland were among the speakers and panelists presenting on topics including “How do I get my child on the road to STEM success?” and “What do STEM professionals do?” A portion of the workshop was conducted in Spanish.

The materials from the event are provided here for your convenience.
