David Lampton
Director of the China Studies Program
Nixon Center
David M. Lampton besides being Director of Chinese Studies at The
Nixon Center is also the Dean of Faculty and the George
and Sadie Hyman Professor of China Studies at the Johns Hopkins
School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
Previously, he was president of the National Committee on United
States-China Relations in New York City. The National Committee is
the nation's oldest non-profit, educational organization devoted to
enhancing mutual understanding among the peoples of the United
States and China's mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Prior to
1988, he was also the past director of China Policy Studies at the
American Enterprise Institute and a former associate professor of
political science at Ohio State University
Lampton is the author of numerous books and articles on Chinese
domestic and foreign affairs, with articles appearing in Foreign
Affairs, Foreign Policy, The New York Times, and The Christian
Science Monitor. His publications include:

Dr. Lampton received an honorary doctorate from the Institute of
Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a Ph.D.
in political science and his undergraduate degrees from
Stanford University. He has lived in the PRC, Taiwan, and Hong
Kong.
