What if the video doesn't play?
You will sometimes need to configure your browser to recognize (or communicate) properly with your default media player. You can find instructions to fix this problem by going to the Services and Support site for your player.

If you are experiencing problems with RealPlayer, disabling the RealPlayer as your default player will sometimes resolve playback problems. To do this:

  • Open RealPlayer.
  • Go under the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Preferences".
  • Navigate to the "Content/Media Types" area.
  • Deselect the "MPEG and AVI video" option.

What do I need to hear the audio?
In addition to a working sound card and speakers, you need an MP3 player to playback MP3 audio. Most computers have software-or are capable of using software-that plays MP3s. If you don't already have a media player, you can download Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. Most players are free and can be downloaded right onto your system.

If you have the necessary hardware and software and still cannot hear the audio, verify that the au

When I click on an MP3 on my Mac using Netscape, it just shows a "Q" Quicktime logo and doesn't play.

This is a problem with Netscape's default preference settings which may incorrectly try to play MP3 files using Quicktime (it does not support MP3 files).

The solution is to download an MP3 player like RealPlayer G2. Then change your preferences by opening Netscape Navigator and selecting Preferences from the Edit menu. Click on "Navigator" and then "applications". This is where you configure Navigator's helper apps. Scroll down until you see "audio/mpeg" and double click on it.

Then click the "Choose" button and locate the MP3 player you want Netscape to launch after a MP3 file is downloaded. (e.g. MacAmp). Ok out of all dialog boxes. Now each time a MP3 file is downloaded Navigator should play it using the MP3 player you selected.

Have future lectures delivered to you automatically through Podcasting!

What is Podcasting?
A Podcast is an easy way to automatically download audio files to your MP3 player through your computer. Use a free application to subscribe to the appropriate RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. The application checks the site regularly and starts a download whenever it finds something new. Once you have Podcasting setup, the next time you synch your MP3 device, any new audio files added since your last synch will automatically be downloaded.

What do I need to use Podcasting?
Besides a computer and a broadband internet connection (DXL, cable, etc.) you will need a portable MP3 player (I-Pod, Creative Zen Micro, Sony Network Walkman NW-HD5, etc.) or MP3-playback application on your computer, and free podcasting software (iTunes, iPodder, jPodder (Windows), iPodderX (MacOS X)).

How can I subscribe to this Podcast?
