From August 2004 to April, 2005 the Office of Force Transformation & the US Navy sponsored a seminar series to Rethink the Principles of War in an effort to
  • examine the future of warfare
  • examine underlying principles of war
  • educate future military strategists and leaders on these principles

Although that series has concluded, materials from the series are archived below and a follow-on series begins in October 2005.

2007-2008 4th Rethinking Seminar Series

Rethinking Future Elements of National and International Power

The Seminar Series continues for a fourth year with national-level speakers who will be discussing  topics related to questions such as:

  • How can the US and her allies:
    • Deter and dissuade potential adversaries from taking action?
    • Prevent escalation and/or bring conflicts to a rapid conclusion?
  • What elements of national and international power might be used?
    • Diplomatic / Information / Military / Economic?
    • Others?

Once again, video, audio, and other related files will be posted to the website about one week after each event.

2006-2007 3rd Rethinking Seminar Series

Rethinking the Relation Between Economics, Resources, Technology and National and International Security

During the previous two seminar series, it became apparent that the conduct of war and conflicts may likely be changing but the nature and causes of war may not. It also has become apparent that the intersection and relationship between economics, resources, technology and national and international security are of chief concern and a critical issue that needs to be examinedVideo and audio files of these seminars remain available on the website.

2005-2006 2ND Rethinking Seminar Series
RETHINKING THE FUTURE NATURE OF
COMPETITIONS AND CONFLICT

This national-level seminar series presented distinguished speakers addressing the changing character of global competitions and what these futures portend for the U.S. and her allies.  Both audio & video versions of these presentations are archived  on the web.
